A Time To Feel Small - Color

I think that the subject matter that you have chosen in this photo is awesome. This one cross section of Times Square really demonstrates the madness of the sea of people, zillions of taxis and adverts covering covering every square inch of exposed space. The colors are also really vibrant showing just how overwhelming this area really is to all of your senses. As a long time resident of Manhattan, I always avoided this area like the plague. The only times I was in Times Square was underground in the Subway system. It takes a brave soul to walk these streets. In terms of technique, I think that there are few things you could have done to slightly improve the composition of the image. The lens flare really draws my eye to the top of the image. You could have potentially either used a polarizing filter to cut out some of the sunlight and even out the composition of the sky, or you could have waited till the position of the sun moved behind you. This would have illuminated your subject matter much more evenly and given more exposure to the gargantuan height of some of those skyscrapers instead of washing them out. You do a marvelous job of capturing skies and clouds in many of your other Photos. Also, the aspect ratio of the image appears to be a little horizontally compressed which distorts some of the people in the foreground and the Prius taxi. Was this shot with a wide angle lens or did you just compress it in Photoshop?
